SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Rental Service Corp. last month appointed Tom Zorn business area executive for the Rental Service business area and CEO of RSC. Zorn, who joined RSC in June 2003 and has served as chief operating officer since July 2004, succeeds Freek Nijdam, who will remain as chairman.

“Tom Zorn has a deep knowledge of and a long experience from the rental industry, along with proven leadership skills,” said Gunnar Brock, president and CEO of Atlas Copco. “He has contributed strongly to the implementation of the turn-around strategy that reversed the negative trend of the business area, and to the process of restructuring the districts and making them more efficient.”

Zorn has a B.A. in economics and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan. He held various positions with the Ford Motor Co., and from 1996 was responsible for the Budget Truck Rental division. He held executive positions with Security Capital Group, a subsidiary of GE Capital, and was president of Ryder Truck Rental.

Nijdam, an Atlas Copco veteran since 1970, led the recent turnaround of RSC.

Scottsdale, Ariz.-based RSC is a division of Stockholm, Sweden, and is No. 2 on the RER 100.
