Woods Equipment, Rockford, Ill., has opened a new manufacturing facility in Gardner, Mass., which replaces a smaller plant in nearby Hubbardston.

The 64,800-square-foot facility in Gardner will manufacture the WainRoy line of coupler systems, including manual, hydraulic and swinger types for all classes of excavators and backhoes. The entire 70-plus employee workforce at the former plant was transferred to the new site, according to Woods president and CEO Thomas Laird.

Woods expanded its construction attachment business last year with the acquisition of excavator bucket manufacturer Central Fabricators, Schofield, Wis., and skid-steer attachment maker Alitec, Brownsburg, Ind. The company also operates plants in Charlotte, N.C.; La Mirada, Calif.; Oregon, Ill.; and Sioux Falls, S.D.
