ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Barry Natwick, president and CEO of Volvo Construction Equipment Rents, last month appointed Martin Moore as vice president, North America operations.

Moore will be based at the North America headquarters of Volvo CE Rents in Asheville, N.C. Moore is best known to the rental industry for his two-year stint as president of GE Energy Rentals. Moore, until recently, was president of a consulting service developing operating and financial business models and implementation plans for corporate management. He has more than 23 years experience in senior management positions in acquisitions, operations, sales, marketing and finance. Moore will be responsible for the operations for the Volvo CE Rents franchise program in North America.

“Marty Moore brings an outstanding record of achievement to Volvo CE Rents,” Natwick said. “As president of GE Energy Rentals for nearly two years, he was successful in developing a rental services business, launching domestic and international rental facilities, planning and implementing sales and marketing programs and creating financial models for business planning. That unique experience will greatly enhance our company's capabilities as we plan the continued growth of Volvo Rents in North America.”

In other news, a new Volvo Rents location opened recently in Hattiesburg, Miss. GGCS Inc. is the owner of the new franchise. The company recently signed a franchise agreement with Volvo CE Rents for equipment rental centers in three major Mississippi markets — Hattiesburg, Jackson, and Gulfport/Biloxi. Hattiesburg is the first to open.

In Louisiana, Volvo Rents opened its fifth independently owned franchise equipment rental center in the state. The Volvo CE Rents rental company is the second Volvo franchise in the state for its owners, K. The company also signed franchise agreements for Volvo equipment rental centers in the Dallas metropolitan area and in Atlasburg, Pa.

Smithco Enterprises, LLC, of McKinney, Texas, will open a Volvo CE Rents center in McKinney, a suburb of Dallas. This is the second Volvo CE Rents franchise contract completed for the Texas market in the last 30 days; in mid-June, contracts were announced for the establishment of Volvo CE Rents franchises in Houston.

John Smith, principal owner of Smithco Enterprises, was formerly with Prime Equipment and Rental Service Corp., major rental companies in the United States.

“The key to success in our market,” said Smith, “will be the industry experience and business strength of our management group, the ability to provide the very best in customer service and tools for a variety of applications, and the benefits provided by the Volvo name and that company's very comprehensive rental model features.”

Equipment Rental Services, LLC, Atlasburg, Pa., entered into a Volvo CE Rents franchise agreement to own and operate a Volvo CE Rents center in that city. Alex Parris is the owner of the company. The new rental operation will open for business within the next few weeks. This is the third Volvo CE Rents franchise contract completed for the Pennsylvania market; Volvo rental centers are in operation in Langhorne and West Chester.
