GREENWICH, Conn. — United Rentals signed a three-year consulting contract with Johnson Controls, Milwaukee. The contract will help the company reduce the cost of operating and maintaining its buildings and related infrastructure, and reduce risks associated with the safety of its facilities.

As part of its new contract, Johnson Controls will gather building systems equipment and vendor data from each of United Rentals approximately 740 branch locations. The data then will be consolidated to simplify procedures and resources for the company across all of its regions.

In addition, the Johnson Controls Global Operations Center in Atlanta will offer round-the-clock assistance for the United Rentals branches providing rapid response for repairs and service to sites, buildings and related systems.

“Through this large-scale initiative with Johnson Controls, we can eliminate the distraction of building-related problems and provide more tools for our branch managers to increase the profitability of our operations,” said Wayland Hicks, COO, United Rentals.

United also selected Magellan Behavioral Health, the nation's leading provider of employee assistance programs, to provide employee assistance and online training services to about 17,000 employees throughout the United States.

The online training program is designed to train supervisors and managers on the sensitive issues of sexual harassment, diversity and violence in the workplace.

United Rentals is No. 1 on the RER 100.
