In response to customer requests for more horsepower in a compact trenching machine, the manufacturer of Ditch Witch underground construction equipment incorporates a Caterpillar 3024C water-cooled diesel engine into its Model 3700 trencher.

Marketed as the new Model 3700CD, the machine's powerplant provides 50 horsepower at 2800 governed rpm and features indirect injection with a cassette-type fuel injection system. Designed to install a variety of buried utilities including residential and commercial sprinkler systems and agricultural irrigation systems, the machine features totally hydrostatic operation for greater reliability and reduced maintenance, a standard foot-controlled ground drive pedal for efficient speed control, an easy entry/exit operator's station with conveniently located controls and a backfill blade with a float gesture.

“The standard foot-controlled ground drive pedal gives the operator easy, more efficient speed control,” says Brent Bolay, product manager. “This product was designed for increased production and reliability.”

Optional attachments include centerline and dual-position trenchers, a vibratory plow, combo trencher/plow, saw and two front-mounted utility backhoes. It carries a one-year full parts and service warranty.
