Westport, Conn.-based Terex Corp. announced its entry into the power generation industry with its new line of diesel generators.

The new product line will be marketed under the name Terex Power and offer a complete line of diesel generators up to 2000KW. The product line will include models for stationary applications, as well as units designed for mobile application for rental channels.

“Terex Power is a new addition to the Terex family,” said Ronald DeFeo, chairman and CEO of Terex. “We have designed in high quality while keeping the cost low through our OEM arrangement with Detroit Diesel and Terex's corporate purchasing power. We believe that the growing worldwide need for dependable power is a market that Terex is well suited to serve.”

Stationary generators are produced to meet both prime power and standby applications. A range of options are available to customize units to meet specific customers' needs. The mobile units range from 200 KW to 2000 KW and are available in fabricated steel housings with the larger units in 20-foot and 40-foot ISO containers. All containerized units are designed for the engine generator to slide in and out of the container for major service. The prime features in this product line are low noise levels (64dBA to 70 dBA), 100 percent spill containment, large fuel capacity, external electrical hookup panels, full microprocessor-based instrumentation package and utility grade switchgear.

Jack Lascar, vice president and general manager of Terex Light Construction said, “The development of this product line was designed to be able to produce sophisticated power systems capable of bridging the gap between public utility power and critical facility needs.”

In other news, Ronald DeFeo, chairman and CEO of Terex Corp., was elected to the board of directors of Kennametal Inc., effective Nov. 20.

“His contributions will help Kennametal reach its aspiration of being the premier tooling solutions provider in the world,” said Markos Tambakeras, president and CEO of Kennametal.
