The new Blastrac 1-9DEZ is a portable, lightweight shot blasting system used to prepare concrete surfaces prior to the application of paint or coatings. Designed for use in tight areas or for smaller jobs, the machine runs on 120 volts of power to strip, clean and profile in one easy step. Because it runs on 120-volt power, it offers flexibility because operators don't have to worry about power requirements or generators.

“The 1-9DEZ is highly maneuverable and easy to transport to and from the jobsite,” says Amy Flanagan, marketing director for Blastrac. “It can easily be handled by a single person.”

There is no rinsing or drying time as with chemical acid etching, and the profile provides a better surface for coating adhesion. With a 9-inch blast pattern and a manual travel speed, the 1-9DEZ can prepare up to 275 square feet per hour.

Common applications for the shot blasting system include residential garage floors, pool decks, decorative concrete, concrete preparation and more. The 1-9DEZ is designed for flooring contractors, painting and coating contractors, rental companies and coating consultants. Flanagan says the shot blaster is a good fit for the rental industry because it is easy to use and is a good fit for small- to medium-sized jobs.
