Financially troubled Gehl, West Bend, Ind., opened CE Attachments, a new division distributing more than 150 compact equipment attachments. The move is seen as part of Gehl's efforts to integrate alternative strategies to strengthen the company after it turned down several takeover offers.

The division is located in Mequon, Ind., but its ties to Gehl, which manufactures less than 10 of the available attachments, are minimal. Former Sky Trak product manager Craig Hammann heads the new unit. CE Attachments is marketed under the Edge brand name that appears on a number of different manufacturers' equipment.

CE Attachments is targeting loader and excavator dealers, Hammann said.
