Leaf blowers come in a variety of sizes, shapes and packages. There are hand-held and backpack gasoline-powered blowers, walk-behind models, and lawn vacuums with optional kits for conversion to blowers.

The Outdoor Power Equipment Institute reminds operators to exercise caution when using all blowers and offers common-sense advice for operation:

  • Never allow bystanders in the work area.
  • Never point the blower nozzle toward people or pets.
  • Wear a mask in dusty or dirty conditions.
  • Never operate in unventilated areas.
  • Observe local ordinances governing hours of use.
