Volvo Plans Celebration of 50th Anniversary in the Wheel Loader Market

Volvo Construction Equipment celebrates its 50th anniversary of the company's entry to the wheel loader market.

Volvo's first wheel loader, the H10, was the world's first with attachment bracket, parallel movement and double acting lift cylinders. By the mid-1960s Volvo was manufacturing wheel loaders that featured powerful engines, Power Shift and four-wheel drive. In 1969, Volvo introduced the world's first hydraulic attachment bracket. In the 1970s and 1980s, the company developed the modern articulated wheel loader with load-sensing steering and the first automatic shifting system for wheel loaders. At this time the company also developed Comfort Drive Control joystick steering, Boom Suspension System and low emission engines.

Volvo launched the L150 in 1991, which introduced the lift arm system TP-linkage, the more comfortable Care Cab and the electronic monitoring and control system Contronic. In 2001, Volvo launched its E-series wheel loaders, designed to combine productivity and operating functionality.
