Asheville, N.C. — Asheville, N.C.-based Volvo Construction Equipment last month announced its acquisition of Mathews Machinery, its dealer for the state of California, in a move designed to combine the strengths of both companies to increase the effectiveness of the Volvo construction equipment distribution system in the state.

The company will continue to operate under the Mathews name from its present sales and services branches located in Bakersfield, Corona, Fresno, Lakeside, Livermore and Sacramento, and provide sales and service of Volvo Construction Equipment products. Company headquarters will remain in Lakeside. All corporate and customer support functions will continue uninterrupted. Mathews was appointed the authorized dealer for Volvo CE in California in 2002.

A new president will be named shortly to replace Tom Mathews, the founder of Mathews Machinery. He is retiring after 48 years of outstanding service in the construction industry. Dave and Mike Mathews will remain part of the executive management team ensuring continuity and a smooth transition.
