GREENWICH, Conn. — United Rentals last month acquired S&R Equipment from Fluor Corp. Perrysville, Ohio-based S&R, which specializes in the rental and sale of aerial work platforms, was part of Greenville, S.C.-based Ameco. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Fluor has been selling off portions of Ameco, especially those that concentrate on the equipment distribution side of the business.

Ameco originally acquired S&R in the mid-‘90s from the Schmitz family, which founded it in the early 1970s. S&R also has locations in Columbus, Ohio; Fort Wayne, Ind.; and Traverse City, Grand Rapids and Wixon, Mich.

United Rentals is No. 1 on the RER 100; Ameco is No. 11.
