United Recognized By Forbes, Fortune

NEW YORK — United Rentals was ranked by Forbes Magazine, in its annual Forbes 500 issue, as the 456th most profitable company in the United States. Forbes also listed United as No. 471 on its assets rank and No. 710 by volume. United also had a presence on the Fortune 500, ranked as the country's 529th largest public company.

High construction industry listees on the Forbes list, ranked by volume, included Home Depot (39), Caterpillar (78), Deere (144), Illinois Tool Works (146) and Ingersoll-Rand (197). Fortune listed Home Depot (23), Caterpillar (99), Deere (149), Illinois Tool Works (189), Ingersoll-Rand (205), Cummins Engine (282), and TruServ (403).
