Thompson Pump Hosts Kansas City Branch Open House

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Thompson Pump last month held an open house at its newly relocated Kansas City, Kan., branch. The location, which serves Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska, also serves Thompson distributors throughout the entire Midwest territory, including Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Minnesota, part of Illinois and part of Wisconsin.

“We're expanding our operation further to the West as we grow,” Dan Tylski, branch manager, told RER. “Our ultimate goal is to set this up as a depot unit so that anybody basically from the West calling for Thompson Pumps can call and we'll have pumps set up that are new, ready to go, and we can ship them anywhere to the West Coast, North, anywhere that they need to go.”

The facility stocks pumps, hoses, fittings for quick couplers, pipe and any other parts that might be needed. The building sits on a 3-acre site, two of which are paved. Materials for large projects are set up in a U-shape around the building so customers can easily get in, get what they need and be on their way. The old location had only 400 square feet of dedicated office space; the new office has triple that with 1,200 square feet.

“We have 18 locations in the company and I would have to say that our Kansas City operation is the best organized,” said Bill Thompson, president, Thompson Pump, who was on hand to attend the open house.

The company also recently moved its Pocomoke City, Md., branch operation to a larger facility. The Pocomoke branch office covers the Delaware, Maryland and Virginia Eastern Shore territory serving more than 200 customers. Under the direction of industry veteran Wayne Bowman and operations manager Kenny Midgett, the branch provides a full line of Thompson Pump products for sale or rental and the expertise to provide solutions for dewatering, bypass and special pumping applications.

“This move is welcomed by our staff as they continue to face increasing rental and sales demands,” said Tim Creech, Thompson Pump southeast regional manager. “The new location provides more room for increased growth and will enable us to service an expanded customer base.”

Port Orange, Fla.-based Thompson Pump has an extensive rental program and is No. 41 on the RER 100.
