The Southhaven, Miss., Terex Construction Americas facility sustained substantial damage in a storm that moved through the area recently.

The storm, which produced straight-line winds in excess of 90 mph, downed thousands of power lines and left more than 300,000 people without electricity. The facility was without power for two days and the structure itself sustained damages of more than $350,000 from windows that were blown out to air conditioning units ripped from the rooftop. Some whole goods inventory also sustained damage from downed power lines and blowing building debris. The facility's 200 employees could not exit the building until the electric company lifted fallen power lines.

Once power was restored, Terex initiated special measures to ensure that customers were satisfied as quickly as possible. All emergency and unit-down orders were shipped “freight free” to help offset the inconvenience caused by the storm.
