Telescopic Boom Branches Out Into Extended Rental Season
The Genie S-60 and S-65 Trax telescopic boom models feature a four-point track system that allows contractors to work any time of the year, enhancing traction for travel in various types of difficult terrain. Genie's fixed-track booms are designed with a narrower profile — 8 feet, 6 inches wide — to allow these booms to be easily transported without requiring special oversize load permits and the limitations on evening and weekend transport.
The Trax models are designed with an inside turning radius of 14 feet and an outside turning radius of 21 feet; as well as a travel speed of 2.3 mph. Both the S-60 fixed and flexible track models offer 500 pounds of lift capacity at the maximum horizontal outreach of 50 feet, 10 inches, up to a working height of 66 feet. The S-65 models provide a 500-pound lift capacity at the maximum horizontal outreach of 56 feet, 2 inches, to a working height of 71 feet.
“The four-point track system is an effective way to extend the season on a rental yard's boom fleet,” says Phil Harvey, product manager for Genie Industries. “Not only can it enter jobsites that wheeled machines don't, it can be rented in place of a wheeled machine. With a longer track life, the maintenance cost will likely be lower because a wheeled machine may have its tires replaced two to four times for every time a track would need to be replaced.”
