Sinclair Clears the Air (and Floor) on Shot Blasting
Sinclair Equipment's Module 8 mobile shot blaster has been cleaning floors in Europe since 1993. Now it's ready to do the same in the United States.
The midrange production device is designed for large or small commercial use, specifically the removal of adhesives and other coatings, and is ideal for preparing self-leveling coatings, according to com-pany president Frank Sinclair.
The self-propelled 8-inch shot-blasting machine is powered by a 5-horsepower engine with 20 amps of power, and it operates at 3,450 rpm. For larger jobs, two Module 8s can be bolted together to double productivity while maintaining the flexibility of separate units.
The unit's five-fin blast wheel allows it to "hit the ground harder and faster" while remaining quiet and dust-free. Sinclair said the Module 8 also offers an easy blast pattern adjustment, and the operator can replace each fin separately. The 8-inch blast pattern can be increased by the addition of one or two extension units.
One of the major improvements to the unit is its ability to be moved up and down stairs as well as to other previously inaccessible areas. The device's components and undercarriage can be lifted 2 inches off the ground so as not to damage the rubber skirts, sealings and blasters, Sinclair said. It also can be transported to and from job sites in a small van or trailer.
