ASV and Jacobsen Launch Strategic Alliance

ASV Inc. and Jacobsen last month announced a strategic alliance. Jacobsen direct dealers will market the ASV RC-30 and RC-50 Turf Edition all-surface loaders, which feature ASV's undercarriage system with smooth, rubber tracks that leave fine turf virtually untouched while still providing traction for digging and grading.

Mi-T-M Expands Manufacturing Facility

Peosta, Iowa-based Mi-T-M Corp. will add an additional 80,000 square feet to its existing 260,000 square foot facility because of an influx of additional business. The facility will have a second powder coat system, five robotic welders and several metal forming stations. The new facility will be fully automated and be in operation prior to May 1.

Stihl Expands Headquarters in Virginia Beach

Stihl Inc. is expanding its operations at its headquarters in Virginia Beach, Va., through an investment of $60.8 million that will create 200 new jobs. The investment includes the construction of a 228,000-square-foot addition to its U.S. headquarters in the Oceana West Corporate Park. Virginia successfully competed with Brazil, China and Germany for the project.

CNH Launches Used Equipment Locator

Lake Forest, Ill.-based CNH Global N.V. announced the global implementation of its Used Equipment Locator system, as an integral part of its multi-brand, multi-distribution agricultural strategy. Initially available in North America, the full implementation of the program for the Case IH, New Holland and Steyr dealers is expected to be completed by the end of 2003 with complete functionality in nine languages. The Used Equipment Locator site can be accessed via the www.newholland.com or www.caseih.com homepages.

Equipment Parts Wholesale to Support Mayville, Niftylift

Fresno, Calif.-based Equipment Parts Wholesale announced agreements to provide parts, support and services for Mayville Engineering Co. and NiftyLift Ltd., the company said.

EPW will become the exclusive source for parts, technical support and service for the installed base of MEC scissorlifts. Craig Braun, EPW's vice president of operations said MEC customers will benefit from same-day shipping, no minimum order quantities, on-line ordering and parts availability for other aerial equipment brands. Niftylift recently announced EPW as its North America customer service provider and has completed the transfer of its North America parts inventory to EPW's Fresno warehouse.

Manitowoc Sells Femco Machine Co.

Manitowoc, Wis.-based Manitowoc Co. sold its Femco Machine Co. business to a group of private investors led by current Femco management and employees. The sale includes substantially all of Femco's assets. The divestiture was a cash transaction, but the final sales price was not disclosed. Femco, based in Punxsutawney, Pa., is a provider of aftermarket replacement parts for cranes and excavators, plus industrial repair and rebuilding services.
