RSC Equipment Rental points out a number of errors in the February RER article “2011 Rental Industry to Recover,” by Frank Manfredi.

  • In the chart “Rental Revenues: Third quarter versus same period a year ago” RSC's '10 vs. '09 percentage growth should be 7.4 percent; '09 vs. '08 should be -35.1 percent.
  • In the chart “Third Quarter Year-to-Year Fleet Utilization,” for dollar utilization, the correct numbers should be: 2008 - 58.7%; 2009 - 43.8%; 2010 - 44.2%. For time utilization, the correct numbers should be 2008 - 70.9%; 2009 - 58%; 2010 - 62.4%;
  • In the chart “Number of Outlets,” the correct totals for 2010 should be 457 and percentage change should be -2.8%;
  • In the chart “Capital Expenditures” for nine months ended Sept. 30, the numbers should be, in millions, 2008 $230.5; 2009 $33.5; 2010 $265.7, with the percentage change from 2008 to 2010 of 15.3 percent;
  • In the chart Rental Rate for the nine months ended Sept. 30, 2010, percentage change from 2009 vs. 2008 should be -7%; 2010 vs. 2009 should be -7.7%.
