EUGENE, Ore. — The Pape Group agreed to acquire the assets of two John Deere construction and forestry equipment dealerships — Smith Tractor of Washington and Hessel Tractor of Oregon. The company expected the deal to close April 1.

Smith Tractor is a John Deere and Bobcat dealer operating in seven Washington locations. Hessel Tractor operates five John Deere locations in Oregon.

“We will have more service locations, highly skilled employees and more resources to meet our customers' needs,” said Randy Pape, president and CEO of the Pape Group. “The addition of these dealerships further strengthens our presence in markets where we already serve the capital equipment needs of customers with our Caterpillar, Hyster, Bobcat and Ditch Witch lines.

The Pape Group is a holding company for capital equipment dealerships throughout the West. The company sells and services construction, forestry and aviation equipment.
