Multiquip's Concrete Saw Looking to Blaze New Trail
For years a market leader in welders, compaction equipment and generators, Multiquip is in an unfamiliar position: looking up at the competition.
The company introduced its first line of concrete/asphalt saws into what product manager Bruce Coleman called an "already saturated and mature" marketplace, yet optimism is high that the lines will succeed and follow the path of success chartered by other Multiquip products.
"To support our customers, we feel we have to provide a full line of concrete equipment," Coleman said. "We are confident that once our rental customers see our saws in action, they will say, 'Another tough rental, better use the MQ saw.'"
There are three series of concrete/asphalt saws: the FS1, FS2 (pictured) and FS3 SP.
All feature heavy-gauge construction with reinforced frame and chassis, oversize wheels with fortified hubs and roller wheel bearings for strength, an industrial blade-shaft assembly that enhances diamond blade performance, and a positive locking blade raise/lower system with a precision depth gauge. The FS2 and FS3 SP models are also equipped with an innovative water-misting system.
Other standard features on the FS2 are 14- and 18-inch blade capacities, true tracking, a tachometer/hour-meter, and engine options ranging from 8 to 13 horsepower. Multiquip also released a full line of diamond cutting blades for the saws.
