Loaders Feature Intelligent Drive Technology

Gehl's new 80-Series All-Wheel-Steer loaders — models 280, 480 (pictured), 480T and 680 — are designed with 4-wheel steering and a one-piece chassis to provide maneuverability, stability and tractive power. Because of the compact size and steering angles, the Gehl AWS loaders can work in confined spaces. Because the machine's center of gravity does not move during a steering cycle, load capacities are not reduced while turning. According to Brian Rabe, product manager for Gehl, “If you can lift it, you can transport it.”

The loaders also feature “intelligent drive” technology for smooth work cycles. When the loader is driven into a pile of material, speed is automatically reduced and tractive effort is increased. This occurs without the operator needing to change gears. The loader's pilot-controlled hydraulic system allows precise handling of loads with minimal effort.

The 80-Series AWS loaders feature operating weights from 7,055 to 12,015 pounds, and rated operating loads from 4,055 to 5,700 pounds. EPA Tier II diesel engines range from 38 to 76 hp and are standard on all models.

Rabe says the AWS units are an easy-to-operate alternative to a skid loader or larger wheel loader. “Our unit's simple steering wheel operation, excellent all-around visibility and superior maneuverability allow even beginners to be immediately productive.”
