IBM and Microsoft Want You
Two of the world's largest companies, IBM and Microsoft, are putting on a full-court press to recruit small businesses into the wired world.
Both companies recently announced package deals that attempt to give small businesses a cheap and easy way to utilize the Web. IBM has expanded its WebConnections site, providing key tools necessary to do business on the Web, including online access for 100 employees. The price tag: $99 a month. It can be found at: www.ibm.com/smallbusiness
Microsoft has redesigned its small-business site and turned it into bCentral. The service helps businesses create Web home pages with appropriate search engine listings. It also provides a template where users can create a Web page without needing to know HTML computer language. The site can be found at: www.bCentral.com
B2B e-commerce will grow to $7.29 trillion by 2004.
