OMAHA, Neb - Hertz Equipment Rental Corp. recently acquired Quality Equipment Co. Three-location Quality, which has branches in Lincoln and Grand Island, Neb., and has a strong presence in western Iowa, had net revenues of $5 million in 1998. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The purchase of Quality "represents a first-time entry for HERC in Nebraska and Iowa," said HERC president Gerald Plescia. HERC now has 242 branches in the United States and Canada.

The three locations will operate under the name Hertz Quality. Former owner Tyler Borman will remain with the company as area manager.

Park Ridge, N.J.-based HERC is No. 2 on the RER 100 with estimated 1998 rental revenues of more than $600 million.
