Grinding With BlueBird's Latest Machine

A mainstay in the rental equipment industry's lawn care tool marketplace, BlueBird International was looking for the final piece to complete its equipment puzzle. That piece is the company's new SG914 stump grinder.

"It's a good fit into our product line since we're looking for anything that ties into (jobs involving) leaves, trees and dirt," says Carla Herron, BlueBird's directorof marketing and business development.

The stump grinder includes a 14-inch-diameter blade with eight carbide-tipped teeth that can cut up to 12 inches deep.

Features that rental customers and contractors will appreciate include an adjust-able and ergonomic design, Herron says. The tool's adjustable curved handle reduces operator fatigue because the operator no longer fights for control, as is the case with some products that have a rigid handle.

Other features include a disc-type lever-activated brake, welded 7-gauge steel frame construction, 12-inch-diameter pneumatic knobby-tread wheels for balance, an engine safety switch and lift handles on either side of the grinder.

BlueBird entered the lawn care equipment market 40 years ago with the rental customer as the focus of the company's product development, Herron says. That strategy has not changed in the new millennium.

"Our equipment always holds up well in the rental market," she says.
