Gehl Co., West Bend, Wis., will expand its Madison, S.D., skid-steer loader manufacturing facility by 41,000 square feet. The expansion is scheduled to be complete in late 2000.

The project will be coupled with a 20,000-square-foot remodeling project in the existing plant. Total investment for both the expansion and remodeling projects will be approximately $11.8 million, and will include the purchase of a new paint system, implementation of robotic welding technology and the addition of other productivity-enhancing equipment.

President and CEO William D. Gehl commented, "The expansion will greatly increase our skid-steer loader capacity, one of the fastest-growing segments of the light construction equipment industry."
