Full Power Boom Provides Greater Extension

Long reach is an important requirement in mobile all-terrain cranes and manufacturers strive to achieve the optimum mix of reach and capacity. Grove is offering a longer boom option with its GMK6250, 250-ton capacity all-terrain crane.

The full power boom extends from 51 to 236 feet, providing a tip height of 246 feet. This is an increase of 39 feet over the standard model and lift capacities are impressive across the working range of this 6-axle crane.

“The six-section boom is the only in its class to deliver this much main boom reach,” says Timothy Cody, manager, market support. “When productivity is paramount, features such as the hydraulic luffing boom extension, all wheel steering and the Megatrak independent suspension provide the mobility and versatility to help crane operators get into position quickly and easily.”

The lifting range is further extended with the optional 43- to 72-foot hydraulic power-luffing, bi-fold swingaway extension, which is hydraulically offsettable from 5 to 40 degrees. An additional 26-foot lattice extension provides a total possible extension length of 98 feet for a maximum tip height of 341 feet.

The product features Grove's advanced megaform boom, twinlock single cylinder extension and locking system, and uses the proven electronic crane operating system and EKS4 electronic load-monitoring system.
