Engine Meets EPA Standards, Provides More Power
Cummins Inc. received unconditional certification for its heavy-duty ISM engine from the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA approval certifies that the ISM complies with the strict new emissions standards agreed upon by the industry.
The Holset variable geometry turbocharger produces quicker throttle response with less turbo lag. In drivers' terms, that means more acceleration power to get loads moving and faster acceleration for highway on-ramps. Infinite adjustment provides the boost needed at any engine speed. Its patented Holset sliding nozzle design eliminates dozens of moving parts.
The engine is included in the company's Uptime Guarantee, which states if any part on a customer's ISX or ISM engine fails and can't be repaired within a 24-hour period, Cummins will reimburse the cost of a rental vehicle. The guarantee applies to these engines purchased by March 31, 2003, with coverage from the date of purchase through Dec. 31, 2003.
“The ISM certification gives Cummins customers a complete line of certified and compliant heavy-duty engines to choose from, without concern for paying penalties,” says Thomas Kieffer, Cummins executive director of marketing.
