Drilling Units Feature Improvements

Ditch Witch's new JT921 horizontal directional drilling unit features a more efficient engine, and greater thrust and pullback power than its predecessor, the JT920. The JT921S is a shorter version of the JT921 with a narrower pipe box and no fluid tank, which will improve productivity in tight spaces.

“Two of the biggest advantages of HDD equipment are efficiency and economy,” says Richard Levings, product manager for Ditch Witch. “You can install pipe without tearing up yards, sidewalks and streets, so you save the time and expense of restoring the service area.”

The compact, self-powered, self-contained JT921 can make short- to medium-length service line installations with pilot bores up to 4 inches and backream diameters up to 8 inches, depending on soil conditions. The JT921 has a 50-hp Caterpillar engine and an improved electrical system that utilizes a busman system instead of a multiple-relay system.

All Ditch Witch directional drills are part of a system of individual components designed to perform efficiently together. The system includes the drilling unit, trailer, downhole tools, drill pipe and fluid-management system.

Verified by Richard Levings, product manager for Ditch Witch.
