Ditch Witch Adds Mini to Skid-Steer Field

The Ditch Witch line of underground construction equipment has been expanded to include a new mini skid-steer, the SK500. The compact, walk-behind model is designed for a variety of construction applications.

“The SK500 is engineered to help even a novice operator work proficiently in a minimal amount of time,” says Mike Lumbers, product manager. “The product is packaged with a full range of attachments. The trailer, SK500 and attachments can be hauled by a homeowner without a special operator license.”

With lifting capacity in the 500-pound class, the new machine is powered by a 24-hp Honda engine and travels on rubber tracks powered by dual independent hydrostatic ground drives. It can be configured as a material loader, trencher, augering machine, forklift and can be used with more than 40 other attachments available in the marketplace.

Ground drive pilot control provides highly responsive steering with little or no vibration transferred to the control handles. Rubber tracks limit disturbance to turf and paved surfaces and are available in either 7- or 9-inch widths. Track length is 40 inches, creating a ground pressure as low as 3.3 psi.

Without attachments, the unit is 72.5 inches long, 42.5 inches high and 36 inches wide with 7-inch track and 42 inches wide with 9-inch track. Ground clearance is 6.5 inches.
