Get Connected in Cyberspace With Alert's Virtual Address

Unlike technologies such as traditional dial-up, digital leased line or frame relay connections, which only provide communication from one physical point to another, the Alert WebTop from Interactive Management Systems provides a virtual address in cyberspace. It connects remote stores, remote workers and mobile laptop users to a corporate network. With a personal computer and access to the Internet, remote users can access a corporate system anytime, anywhere.

The system empowers remote store managers with browser-based access to the entire network including rental software, Windows productivity tools, e-mail and other applications on the corporate server. The product also centralizes network administration, reducing the time spent supporting remote store computer systems. Accounting functions can also be centralized at a company's headquarters in order to improve management control and lower administrative costs.

Connecting remote stores to the main location using traditional analog or digital services can be expensive. The product is a more cost-effective way to connect stores because it reduces, and in some cases even eliminates, the need for costly leased phone connections and expensive telephony gear. Remote locations can access a headquarters network using economical, easy-to-configure thin client workstations.

“The Alert WebTop can save large multistore operations thousands of dollars a month in leased phone line charges and outdated telephony equipment maintenance costs,” says Chris Redfern, systems consultant.

It also monitors and automatically adjusts to network load changes to optimize performance over the Web.
