CNH Savings to Reach $600M But Cuts Still Planned
Polo Monferino, CEO at Racine, Wis.-based CNH, said savings from the New Holland/Case merger totaled $155 million in 2000 and will likely reach $600 million in 2003. Despite the savings, the manufacturer plans to trim its workforce to 27,600 in 2003. CNH employed approximately 36,000 workers in 1999.
The company will also cut the number of suppliers to 3,000 in 2004 (from 6,600 in 1999) and reduce the number of plants to 37 in 2004 (from 58 in 1999). Other reductions include a drop in the number of platforms to 29 from the current 45.
