Caterpillar Wheel Loader Offers Quick Tool Change, Easy Servicing
Caterpillar's 924G wheel loader offers a new linkage style called VersaLink, which replaces the eight-bar parallel-lift linkage used on integrated toolcarriers and the Z-bar linkage found on wheel loaders, the company says.
The one-piece, fabricated, box-section design of the new VersaLink features a quick coupler for quick and easy changing of tools and increases visibility, according to the company. VersaLink also offers increased breakout force, more dig depth, and improved material retention and control of material when finegrading, the company says.
"This is an ideal machine for rental centers because of its versatility and reconfigurability," says Terry Tenhouse, senior marketing consultant. "It's very easy to convert the boom from a pin-on tool to quick coupler for tool changes. Also, a high lift option adds 20 inches of dump height," he says. To enhance the wheel loader's versatility, Caterpillar is now offering a wider array of attachments, including buckets, brooms and forks directly from the factory, Tenhouse says.
"Another feature - the swing-out, hydraulically driven fan - is the first of its kind," he says, "and allows for easy cleaning and servicing of the radiator."
Primary applications for the wheel loader include material handling, industrial applications, truck loading from a stockpile or hardbank, site preparation, landscaping, agricultural and forest/millyard work, and trenching support, according to the company.
