Little Beaver’s line of MDL Mechanical Earth Drills is designed to provide a safe and productive solution for one-man hole-digging applications

Little Beaver's line of MDL Mechanical Earth Drills is designed to provide a safe and productive solution for one-man hole-digging applications. Featuring a 360-rpm operating speed, the drills are faster and produce cleaner holes than similar competitive units, the company says, while the compact design allows access to areas unreachable by skid-steer-mounted augers. The MDL drills are suited for use by rental centers, fence and sign installers, landscape and building contractors, and parks and recreation departments.

The MDL drills feature a steel torque tube, allowing operators the ability to use large-diameter augers without fear of dangerous kickback. In addition to increasing operator safety, the torque tube provides easier drilling, reducing operator effort and fatigue. For further operator safety, all models feature a centrifugal clutch. If a buried object is encountered or the auger is overloaded, the clutch automatically slips, protecting the operator from serious injury, and the drive cable and transmission gears from damage.

“Only Little Beaver offers one-man earth drills that include a safety torque tube,” says Mike Hale, sales manager for Little Beaver. “This tube connects between the handle and the engine to eliminate dangerous kickback to the operator in cases where the auger comes to a sudden stop. For additional performance, Little Beaver offers three auger styles, one for sandy soils, one for rocky soils, and one for hard clays and asphalt. Also, the 360-rpm auger rotation increases productivity and reduces labor costs by 50 percent over most competitive models.”
