PS3500H Site Dumper (and PS4000H)

Terex Corp.

From cramped construction sites and rough terrain to landscaping, golf course, nursery and cemetery applications, Terex PS35000H and PS4000H site dumpers are designed to give the operator exceptional visibility for moving any material — dirt, clay, sand, stone, concrete, fertilizer and more. These units possess four-wheel drive, articulated steering capabilities and increased versatility — allowing loads to be rotated 180 degrees from side to side and tipped to accurately place a load. The PS3500H and PS4000H both are designed with 2/2 hydrostatic transmission and permanent 4-wheel drive. The PS3500H can handle a heaped capacity of 2.4 cubic yards and a maximum payload capacity of 7,716 pounds. The PS4000H has the capability to haul a maximum payload of 8,818 pounds with a heaped capacity of 3.3 cubic yards. A Kubota V2203 43.2-hp diesel engine powers both units. Both models meet Tier 2 emission requirements.

RER: What makes the PS3500H Site Dumper (and PS4000H) innovative?

Ernie Ferguson, regional sales manager for Terex Construction: The idea of using a product that cuts down on labor cost is innovative. One man can do, in a shorter period of time, what it would take several men and wheelbarrows. Can you imagine how many loads it would take for one wheelbarrow to move 3 ½ tons of material versus one load with the Terex PS3500H?

The unique aspects of the Terex PS3500H and PS4000H Site Dumpers are the swivel bucket and hydrostatic transmission. The swivel bucket gives the operator more precise unloading of material and ability to drive into more confined areas and unload the material to the side. For example, if you are working on a roadbuilding job you don’t want the rear of the machine to be in traffic. Or, if you need to work between two buildings and there is not enough room to maneuver a turn, simply pull in forward and use the swivel bucket to unload to the side. The single dual axis joystick lifts and rotates the bucket.

Plus, the hydrostatic transmission makes operating easy. It doesn’t take an experienced heavy equipment operator to learn the controls. It’s as simple as moving the directional lever up to go forward and down to reverse; push accelerator, push brake.

RER: What are the benefits to the PS3500H Site Dumper (and PS4000H)? How does the unit make jobs more effective and efficient for rental professionals and their contractor customers?

Ferguson: Labor cost is one of the largest, if not the largest expense, on the balance sheet, plus all of the other benefits associated with it. Not only do the Terex PS3500H Site Dumper and PS4000H Site Dumper cut down on laborers, they also move larger amounts of material which saves time on the job — and time equals money.

Contractors have a difficult time meeting deadlines due to things they have no control over, like weather. The Terex PS3500H Site Dumper and PS4000H Site Dumper, being 4-wheel drive and having high ground clearance, are all-terrain work horses that adapt to harsh environments. The job doesn’t have to stop just because the work area is muddy; the contractor can keep moving material and complete the job.

RER: Describe the development process of the PS3500H Site Dumper (and PS4000H). Where did the idea come from and who was responsible for its engineering and development?

Ferguson: The site dumper was originally developed by Benford in 1953, which Terex acquired in 1999. Terex dealers and contractors have always had great ideas for improvement of our products, and the product evolved through listening to our greatest asset: our customers. So I guess you would say our customers are responsible for its engineering and development. They had a need — Terex filled that need.
