Flip-Hood Generator
Magnum Products LLC
Magnum Products LLC introduces new patent-pending, Flip-Hood/Flip-Tongue generator models MMG 35FH and MMG 55FH. The new generator’s two access hoods flip wide open to allow for unobstructed accessibility to the generator’s internal components. The front, service hood easily flips open providing complete accessibility to perform daily operator checks and routine maintenance. The back hood flips open to provide access to the generator end and electrical connections for full service. Large control panel access with one centralized location of all electrical connections and wiring make this new generator design easy to use as well as maintain. Magnum’s Flip-Tongue trailer design; the trailer tongue flips up decreasing the overall length of the trailer to 100-inches long permitting cross trailer loading for shipment; 40-percent to 45-percent freight reduction costs, adds equipment security on dealer lot and jobsite. Magnum’s Flip Hood and Flip Tongue designs increase the rental dealers’ return on their investment; faster and easier to use and service, lower transportation costs.
RER: What makes the Flip-Hood Generator innovative?
Mike Joseph, strategic accounts manager for Magnum Products: Magnum’s patented Flip-Hood generator is the first in the market to truly step outside the box with a design that addresses serviceability and transportability. The enclosure is designed to easily provide unobstructed access to the engine and generator compartment for service and repair. In addition, the rear mounted control system centrally locates all electrical components for easy access and diagnostics. Finally, the shipping efficiencies have been increased 40 to 50 percent with the flip tongue design that allows the generators to be loaded onto a flatbed width ways.
RER:What are the benefits to the Flip-Hood Generator? How does the unit make jobs more effective and efficient for rental professionals and their contractor customers?
Joseph: With today’s competitive rental market, companies are continually searching for new ways to increase their ROI. Magnum’s new Flip-Hood design addressed that concern by reduced service and repair time, and reduced transportation costs. Over the life of the machine, this equates to tremendous savings and a greater ROI for the rental company.
RER: Describe the development process of the Flip-Hood Generator. Where did the idea come from and who was responsible for its engineering and development?
Joseph: Magnum continually solicits feedback from the field in an effort to design and build product that best fits the needs of the market. Two consistent messages from the field were the need for; better serviceability and increased shipping efficiencies. Chad Konop, Magnum engineering manager, combined his past experience in the heavy truck industry with his working knowledge of our industry to create a practical solution, with the Flip-Hood design.
