DPC 8122 16-inch Power Cutter
Makita USA
Makita’s 16-inch Industrial Power Cutter is a versatile and long lasting saw that is ideal for cutting concrete, steel, angle iron, brick/masonry, asphalt, and more. The saw has the best power-to-weight ratio in its class, and has a five-stage advanced directional airflow filtration system for cleaner air, better performance, and longer product life. The saw weighs just 23.9 pounds, and is equipped with four anti-vibration mounts for smoother performance. It is a best-in-class saw for landscapers, road construction crews, railroad crews, rescue crews, general steel contractors, masons and welders. Five-stage, foam-paper-nylon system with advanced directional airflow provides clean air for better saw performance. The unite features a reinforced aluminum blade guard with a 70-degree range of limitless positioning using a marked knob handle. The cutting arm position simply changes from center position to flush (outboard) position, which allows cuts directly adjacent to curb edges, walls or directly above the ground. The tarter grip and decompression valve are located on the same side for faster starting. Cushioned operator grips with four vibration-absorption rubber buffers are designed for increased operator comfort. The improved exhaust emissions are EPA Phase II compliant while maintaining power and performance.
RER: What makes the DPC 8112 16-inch Power Cutter innovative?
Randy Caillier, vice president of construction equipment of rental sales, and Tommy Clark, national account manager rental sales, both for Makita: Makita’s DPC8112 has an advanced air filtration design, with five different stages of air filtration/cleaning prior to entering the engine for increased performance.
RER: What are the benefits to the DPC 8112 16-inch Power Cutter?
Caillier and Clark: The DPC8112 weighs just under 24 pounds. It has an electronic ignition that allows for more consistent engine speeds. The five-stage air filter system is easily accessed for cleaning or servicing, and no tools are needed to perform this task.
RER: How does the unit make jobs more effective and efficient for rental professionals and their contractor customers?
Caillier and Clark: The lighter weight improves ergonomics and is more comfortable to use. The speed of the cut allows for faster performance, speeding up the job. Servicing the air filtration system is a regular process on all brands of cut off saws, but this design makes it much faster for the end user because no tools are required to perform air filter cleaning.
RER: Describe the development process of the DPC 8112 16-inch Power Cutter. Where did the idea come from and who was responsible for its engineering and development?
Caillier and Clark: Our research and design group in our factory in Hamburg Germany works on this saw design daily to make improvements and to stay ahead in terms of the newest technology available.
