U.K. Equipment Rental Market worth £3.6 Billion in 2012, Report Asserts

July 19, 2013

The United Kingdom equipment rental market is estimated to be worth about £3.6 billion (about U.S. $5.5 billion) in 2012 with continued growth through 2017, according to a new report from Research and Markets. After a significant market decline from 2007 through 2009, growth in 2012 was achieved in part because of opportunities available from the Olympic Games as well as improved rental rates in some sectors.

The top four companies account for about a quarter of the market, the report said, with Speedy Hire being the leading company. Increasingly companies are offering services in addition to the pure rental of equipment as a way to differentiate themselves from their competitors.
