Construction equipment manufacturer JCB announced it will cut 150 jobs across its U.K. operations, the BBC reported. Chief executive Graeme Macdonald said JCB had to cut its cost base because of a decline in world markets.

Macdonald said the company’s Staffordshire headquarters would be most affected, with other sites in north Wales and Derbyshire also likely to suffer cutbacks.

He said only office-based staff would be affected and hoped that most cuts would come from voluntary redundancies or early retirement.
