Volvo CE to Launch Excavator Production in India

Volvo Construction Equipment plans to launch excavators manufactured in India by November, India’s Business Standard reported this week. Currently, Volvo is manufacturing 4,000 units of road-building machinery per year at its Bangalore facility and plans to double that capacity. It plans to produce two basic models of 20-tonne and 30-tonne excavators, and after reaching a certain level of sales, introduce two additional models.

Volvo CE acquired the manufacturing plant from Ingersoll-Rand in 2008.
