Speedy Signs £6 Million Sole Supplier Agreement with Tube Lines

Tube Lines, the company upgrading three of the busiest lines on the London Underground, has signed a two-year, £6 million (about U.S. $9.5 million) sole supplier agreement with Speedy Hire, the U.K.’s largest tool and equipment rental company. Speedy will provide tools, lifting gear, accommodation, communications solutions and training packages. Speedy will offer specialist equipment when needed.

Speedy will provide tools, lifting gear, accommodation, communications solutions and training packages. Speedy will offer specialist equipment when needed.

In addition to being pleased with Speedy’s performance in a number of jobs during the past year, Phillip Constable, head of distribution services at Tube Lines, said: “[Speedy’s] environmental and sustainability initiatives were also an important factor in our decision, as we are committed to promoting best practice in this area. Speedy will be using its electric ‘Modec’ vehicles to transport additional equipment and tools to site when required.”

Speedy will provide a single point of contact for Tube Lines. The company also provides online account management information including electronic invoicing.
