Manitowoc Cranes, which recently opened the doors to its first Latin American factory in Passo Fundo, Brazil, recently signed a deal to sell 32 Grove cranes, with capacities ranging from 60 tons to 300 tons, to Makro Engenharia, a crane rental specialist based in Fortaleza, Brazil. Half of the 32 cranes are Grove rough-terrain cranes from the Passo Fundo factory; the other 16 are Grove all-terrain cranes.
“All of Latin America is an important growth market for Manitowoc,” said Luciano Dias, vice president of sales for Manitowoc in Brazil. “Our new factory here is a testament to our commitment to the region.”
Makro will rent the cranes to companies for a variety of applications, including mining and construction, renewable energy (wind and thermal) and oil and gas projects. Some of the cranes will be used by Makro Wind, a division of Makro that specializes in constructing and operating wind power developments.
