JCB is continuing its investment in global excavator production capability with the opening of its new factory in Sorocaba, Brazil, where the first 20-tonne machine just rolled off the line. The first JS200LC tracked excavator has been bought by Jorcal Engenharia E Construcoes, based in Sao Paulo state.

The new production facility is next to JCB’s existing backhoe loader factory. The company recently opened a new £40 million tracked and wheeled excavator factory in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, U.K.

“The Latin American region is undergoing strong growth this year and our decision to constantly invest in the expansion of production capability will help us achieve our objective of maintaining business growth and increasing our market share in the region,” said Carlos Hernandez, JCB’s Latin America regional director.

The construction of the factory took seven months to build and includes a training area to enhance the service backup provided to excavator customers in the region. JCB also recently doubled its backhoe loader production capacity in Brazil.
