The Onsite Rental Group, one of Australia’s largest equipment rental companies this week acquired Q-Air, further consolidating its growth in the Queensland state. The acquisition of Q-Air, based in Gladstone, Australia, opens new opportunities for Onsite in the fast-growing Surat and Bowen Basin regions, bringing new customers and increasing service opportunities for existing customers.

Onsite opened a branch in Emerald, Queensland, in February, giving it eight in the state with the acquisition of Q-Air. The expansion puts the company in a unique position to capitalize on the significant growth opportunities in the Surat to Gladstone Corridor where projects exceeding AU $83 billion (about U.S. $86.8 billion) are forecasted.

The Q-Air acquisition follows recent growth across the company, both organically and through acquisitions. The growth includes the $40 million acquisition in 2009 of specialist Queensland commercial power rental business WASP Diesel, now re-branded as Onsite, the acquisition of the Ifco portable building business in Victoria in 2010 and the acquisition of Parks Portables, a Melbourne-based portable buildings rental business in 2011.

“The acquisition of Q-Air in Gladstone is an important milestone in our national expansion strategy and positions us strongly for growth in Queensland, with a particular focus on supporting customers in the state’s thriving mining and resources sectors and the industries that support them,” said Onsite Rental Group CEO Mark Rich. “We now have a very significant investment profile in place to support our growth in Queensland on top of considerable capex already employed in the state. In addition, we continue to invest significantly in our branch network across the country to ensure we offer superior levels of customer service and technical knowledge, which, in turn, ensures our customers can make an objective choice about the best product for their application.”

The Onsite Rental Group supplies the industrial, construction, mining, gas and municipal markets.
