Temporary power and temperature control services provider Aggreko was recognized for its rapid response capability by the Asian Power Awards 2008, decided by an independent panel of judges and organized by Asian Power magazine.

Aggreko won the “Best Fast-Track Power Project in Asia” award for the rapid design, installation and commissioning of the 40MW rental power package at the 132kV Goal Para substation in Khulna, Bangladesh.

Because of Bangladesh’s sandy, silty soil and high water table, the environment was difficult to construct a power plant. Site preparations were challenging, with the site waterlogged at the start of the project. Aggreko completed site preparations in 31 days, flying in specialized membranes from Europe to control ground water levels, and then compacted the soil to improve the strength of the base and achieve load-bearing capacity for the power package.

Based in Scotland, with U.S. headquarters in Houston, Aggreko is No. 13 on the RER 100.
