Alpharetta, Ga.-basedAmerican Honda Motor Co. and Climate Energy, LLC have earned a 2006 new product Breakthrough Awardfrom Popular Mechanics magazine for their collaboration in producing the micro-sized combined heat and power system (Micro-CHP), a unique and innovative new form of heat and power technology.

Popular Mechanics Breakthrough Awards recognize revolutionary ideas and industry leaders in two groups: new products and technology innovators. This year, 10 new products and 10 leaders in innovation were honored with this award at a ceremony held on Oct. 4 in New York City.

Climate Energy’s Micro-CHP System combines space-heating technology with an MCHP engine/generator unit supplied by Honda. Climate Energy’s residential combined heat and power technology achieves a combination of thermal comfort, energy efficiency, environmental benefit and affordability.
