Wajax Ltd. recently announced fourth-quarter earnings of $6 million Canadian, 38 cents per share, a 76 percent year-over-year increase from the $3.4 million, 22 cents per share result in 2003. Wajax grossed $928.2 million Canadian for the full year, up from $884 million in 2003. Its fourth-quarter revenue was $249.2 million, up from $230.9 million for the fourth quarter of 2003.

Wajax’ mobile equipment division, which includes its rental operation, had total revenue of $448 million Canadian, with $44 million in rental revenue. The Mississauga, Ontario-based firm is a dealer for Hyster, Hitachi, JCB and Terex, among others.

Wajax announced that it recently received two large mining equipment supply and service orders and plans to purchase 15 330-ton Hitachi mining trucks and two 800-ton Hitachi hydraulic shovels for use in a major oil sands project in the Fort McMurray, Alberta, area.
