RER 100 Tops $10 Billion

RER Magazine has compiled its annual RER 100, which will be released in the upcoming May issue. The RER 100 is a listing of the 100 largest rental companies in North America, ranked in order of rental volume.

This year the RER 100, which reports on 2004 rental volume, tops $10 billion in rental volume for the first time, with a total of nearly $10.1 billion, a 12.2 percent increase over last year’s total volume. The top 10 tops $7 billion for the first time.

Once again, United Rentals occupies the top ranking, with just over $2.3 billion in rental revenue and about $3.1 billion in total revenue. United is followed by RSC Equipment Rental, Hertz Equipment Rental Corp., Sunbelt Rentals, NES Rentals, NationsRent, Home Depot Rentals, Maxim Crane, Neff Rental and H&E Equipment Services.

While the group of 100 companies jumped 12.2 percent in rental revenue, more than 20 companies posted rental revenue increases of 20 percent or more.
