New York City-based National Equipment Register will host a regional summit to present and discuss solutions to the growing problem of construction and farm equipment theft June 1, at the Carol Stream, Ill., Holiday Inn.

The summit will be hosted by the Carol Stream Police Department, DuPage County B.A.T.T.L.E (Beat Auto Theft Through Law Enforcement) and the DuPage County Chiefs of Police Association and is sponsored by FBI-LEEDA (Law Enforcement Executive Development Association) and the National Equipment Register.

This one-day summit is free for law enforcement, equipment owners and insurers that are NER-member companies. The summit opens with a general session that analyzes equipment theft and discusses theft prevention and recovery techniques. The latest in equipment security technology is introduced in the general session and will be demonstrated throughout the day. In the afternoon, break-out classes will provide law enforcement with instruction in equipment identification techniques including hands-on training. Equipment owners and insurers will receive in-depth training in theft prevention, equipment insurance and the technologies on display, culminating in a roundtable discussion.

Effective networking between law enforcement and equipment owners is a vital element of theft prevention and recovery, and will be encouraged throughout the day and through catered breaks and lunch.

To register, e-mail NER at [email protected] or call (212) 297-1805 by May 23. Space is limited.
