AMECO, the fleet management and construction support unit of Fluor Corp. in July received a 2003 Supplier Excellence Award from Eastman Chemical Co. in Kingsport, Tenn. It was one of only 15 companies selected to receive this honor.

AMECO was recognized for achieving zero safety incidents during the year; improved tool availability and reliability — supplying requested items 99 percent of the time; and increased service offerings, including loading station inspection and repair, material lift inspection and repair, and sign production.

“The awarding of this honor to our company is another tangible example of how five brand drivers of responsiveness, reliability, expertise, innovation and safety ultimately translate into very real value for our clients,” said Gary Bernardez, president of AMECO. (See interview with Bernardez in Trends & Analysis, RER Reports August 30, 2004.)

AMECO has delivered fully integrated equipment and tool solutions for more than 50 years. The company is focused on two primary businesses, fleet outsourcing and site services. The fleet outsourcing business assists clients in the industrial markets, including heavy industrial, power and manufacturing facilities, with complete outsourcing of fleet, tool and asset management functions. The site services business focuses on providing a complete equipment, tool and construction indirect service package to construction projects.

Eastman manufactures and markets chemicals, fibers and plastics. The company has approximately 13,000 employees in more than 30 countries and had 2003 sales of $5.8 billion.

Greenville, S.C.-based AMECO is No. 12 on the RER 100.
